Filmmaker Jordan Bayne, who has been involved in the Film3 movement since 2015, believes that blockchain technology can provide creators with more power and control over their work than traditional Hollywood. Bayne founded the Film Squad media collective, which showcases how indie filmmakers can use blockchain technology to their advantage in areas such as financing, distribution, and ownership.

The Squad also aims to uplift marginalized communities, including women, members of the LGBTQIA community, Black filmmakers, and people of color, by using the internet to bring like-minded people together. Bayne sees Web3 as an innovative new pathway for marginalized groups to control their own representation in media and for their voices to be heard.
