Jurrien Timmer, global macro director at Fidelity Investments, has compared the boom-bust cycle of crypto assets to the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s. He believes that, as with the tech bubble, some digital assets will rise while others will die.
Timmer suggests that Bitcoin could be the "Apple" of the crypto industry, and that it may survive and thrive, taking market share from other digital assets.
He has overlaid Bitcoin's current chart with Apple's chart from two decades ago, suggesting that BTC has displayed similar price action relative to the two.
