The European Union and the United States are collaborating to address the need for interim AI standards before new legislation governing the use of AI is formalized and enacted. Margrethe Vestager, the EU's tech czar, stresses the urgency to establish minimum standards to bridge the gap until the new laws take effect.

The fourth ministerial-level meeting of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) will be looking at aspects of generative AI algorithms, which produce new text, visual, or sound content. The EU and the US are demonstrating their commitment to fostering a safe, ethical, and effective AI environment by creating an interim solution and taking an anticipatory approach.
