June 26 (Cointime) - Ethereum has announced the upcoming launch of its newest public testnet, Holešky, which is set to replace the current Goerli testnet. The new testnet will be the first long-standing, merged-from-Genesis, public Ethereum testnet, and will provide a safe environment for testing protocol upgrades and smart contracts before deploying them on the main network.
The Holešky testnet will be available for staking, infrastructure and protocol-developer testing, while decentralized applications (DApps) testing, smart contracts, and other EVM functionality will be available for testing on the Sepolia testnet.
The Ethereum team has proposed a preliminary Genesis event scheduled for September 15, 2023, at 14:00 GMT, and a live event in Berlin will be announced once the Genesis date is confirmed. With this launch, Ethereum is taking a major step towards ensuring a predictable Ethereum Testnet Lifecycle plan, providing a safe and stable environment for developers to test and improve their applications.
