According to data from Defi Llama,  cryptocurrency investors lost over $664 million due to hacker attacks in the first half of this year, an increase of over 50% compared to the same period last year.

Most of these losses were due to phishing attacks and private key leaks. Omer Sadika, co-founder and CEO of blockchain security company dWallet Labs, said that the proliferation of open-source hacker tools has lowered the barrier to entry for amateur hackers, increasing the number and frequency of attacks.
