The criminal trial of FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried will proceed with the original eight charges against him, as stated in a letter by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to District Judge Lewis Kaplan.
Bankman-Fried had filed a motion in The Bahamas arguing that many of the 13 charges he faced were not in the original indictment that led to his extradition.
The DOJ lawyers are prepared to proceed with the trial on the original counts as litigation of the motion may take some time. Bankman-Fried is accused of commingling customer funds and misleading investors about FTX's risk management practices, leading to losses for investors and customers.
