Coinbase CEO Praises Singapore’s Economic Freedom, as US Regulations Cause Uncertainty for Cryptocurrency Firms

June 26 (Cointime) - Cryptocurrency companies in the US are facing uncertainty due to unclear regulations, causing some to seek better opportunities abroad. Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, highlighted the importance of economic freedom for a country's growth, while facing legal challenges from the SEC.

Armstrong praised Singapore for its high ranking in economic freedom, but criticized its lack of a permit for retail crypto trading, which he deemed short-sighted and anti-freedom. He also noted that this area of crypto will be closely watched by regulators.

In response, Min Byoung-dug, a member of the South Korean Democratic Party, stated that "the AVAIL token incident means that Bithumb's own abnormal trading system did not work at all. Bithumb said that only trades that account for more than 5% of the total issuance would be considered abnormal trades."
