The Brazilian Central Bank has published a collection of documents related to their central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot on GitHub. The documents provide information on the CBDC's architecture, network connection issues, smart contracts, and sample smart contracts.
However, some GitHub users have expressed disappointment that the project's source code was not included. The pilot will use an open-source, Ethereum network-compatible permissioned blockchain named Hyperledger Besu and the bank hopes to roll out the CBDC by 2024, but legislation must be updated before the project can proceed.
