Bitcoin ZK Rollup protocol Citrea announced the completion of a $2.7 million seed round of financing. This round of financing was led by Galaxy Ventures, with participation from Delphi Ventures, Taproot Wizards co-founder Eric Wall, and Modular Blockchain Avail co-founder Anurag Arjun.

Citrea is committed to helping Bitcoin better adapt to DeFi, NFT, and other use cases that could previously only be realized on smart contract-based blockchains. In the future, Bitcoin will also be able to handle these use cases. Citrea's ZK Rollup will be based on the Ethereum EVM, making it easy for developers to migrate the applications they have built for Ethereum and other compatible networks. The team plans to release a test network in the next quarter.
