June 22 (Cointime) - Bitcoin surpassed the US$30,000 mark in Asian trading on Thursday, leading gains among the top 10 non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
The rally was driven by news of major financial institutions entering the crypto space, including BlackRock's recent Bitcoin ETF application and Deutsche Bank's application for a crypto custodian license. U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's comments that Bitcoin has "staying power" also contributed to market confidence.
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization rose to US$1.17 trillion, with trading volume surging to US$60.3 billion.
