June 15 (Cointime) - Brink, a Bitcoin nonprofit, has received $5 million in funding from Jack Dorsey's Smart Small initiative to support independent Bitcoin developers. The money will be used to sustain existing Bitcoin developer grantees and potentially add new qualified grant applicants.
The funding will be distributed in $1 million increments annually over a five-year period. Smart Small has raised $1.4 billion in funding, spent $515 million, and has $900 million remaining to support technology projects focused on privacy, including the Tor project and messaging app Signal.
Brink was founded in 2020 to boost the Bitcoin protocol through research and development and by supporting the Bitcoin developer community.
