Bitcoin mining has become more sustainable and environmentally friendly, with emissions intensity dropping to its lowest level ever, below 300g/KWh. The decline is due to the use of more sustainable energy sources and more efficient mining hardware.
Bitcoin mining operators have also moved to countries with sustainable energy, such as Scandinavia, where electricity prices remain negative.
However, the current peak level of network difficulty and hash rate is impacting profitability, which has declined by 44% since last year, due to declining BTC prices and increasing energy costs.
