Binance Lawyer: U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Wants to Be the “World’s Derivatives Police”

In March of this year, both Binance and Zhao Changpeng were sued by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in the Federal Court in Chicago for allegedly violating trading and derivative rules. Currently, Binance has submitted documents to the Illinois court seeking to dismiss the "instigating" lawsuit by the CFTC against Binance.

Binance's lawyer stated that the CFTC is attempting to regulate foreign individuals and companies residing and operating outside the United States, ignoring the restrictions of the U.S. Commodity Exchange Act. "The U.S. Congress did not make the CFTC the world's derivatives police, and the court should reject the agency's attempt to expand its jurisdiction beyond what the law allows."
