According to Bloomberg, two Senate democrats, Elizabeth Warren and Chris Van Hollen, have written a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting an investigation into crypto exchange Binance's business practices.
The senators allege that Binance may have made false statements, including whether its affiliate Binance.US was a separate entity. This comes after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Binance and its CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao for alleged sale of unregistered securities and commingling of customer funds. Binance has not yet responded to the request for comment.
