Beosin, a blockchain security company, has released the 2023 Q3 Global Web3 Security Report. The report states that the Web3 sector suffered a total loss of $889.26 million in Q3 due to hacker attacks, phishing scams, and Rug Pull incidents. This loss exceeds the total loss in the first half of 2023 (approximately $330 million and $333 million in Q1 and Q2 losses, respectively).
In Q3, there were a total of 43 major security incidents, resulting in a loss of $540.16 million. Among them, there were 29 incidents in the DeFi sector. 9 incidents of private key leakage resulted in a loss of $223 million; the Mixin Network security incident resulted in a loss of $200 million; and 22 contract vulnerabilities resulted in a loss of approximately $93.27 million.
