The Bank of England is reportedly seeking to build a team of up to 30 individuals to develop a central bank digital currency (CBDC), according to the Sunday Times.
The UK's central bank and finance ministry announced further research and development on a digital version of the pound sterling in February, inviting public feedback on the plans. While the project has been dubbed "Britcoin" in the press, the bank has not yet decided whether a digital pound would use distributed ledger technology.
The bank's website lists positions for a Digital Pound Security Architect and Digital Pound Solutions Architect, both of which were added in March.
