Interoperability protocol Axelar has connected yield optimization protocol Sommelier, which operates on the Cosmos ecosystem and Ethereum, with Ethereum Layer 2 network Arbitrum One. Sommelier's DeFi vaults rotate capital across different assets and optimize yields on crypto assets through lending and trading services.

The vaults will now be available on Arbitrum thanks to Axelar's General Message Passing (GMP) protocol, which enables data and assets to move between the two ecosystems. In October 2021, Sommelier raised $23 million in a Series A funding round led by Polychain Capital.
