the Arkansas Cryptocurrency Mining Association is suing two Arkansas officials, alleging that they enforced an unconstitutional discriminatory state rule that prohibits foreign-born American citizens from engaging in cryptocurrency mining activities. Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin and Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission Director Lawrence Bengal filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas on March 13.
Earlier, a federal court ruled in November last year to temporarily prevent Arkansas from blocking a naturalized Chinese-American citizen from operating a cryptocurrency mining business. The relevant rules in Arkansas are the "K Rule" and "Act 174", which prohibits foreign-controlled businesses in the state.
