June 15 (Cointime) - Apple has rejected the latest version of the non-custodial Lightning-enabled bitcoin wallet, Zeus, due to a lack of proof of requisite licenses and permissions for the transmission of virtual currency.
This follows a similar dispute with Damus, a decentralized social media platform that runs on the Nostr protocol. Apple took issue with Damus's "zap" feature, which allows users to send small amounts of bitcoin over the Lightning Network to their favorite content creators.
Legal experts argue that non-custodial wallets like Zeus should not be classified as money transmitters, a classification typically reserved for custodial wallets.
