After making his initial court appearance on Thursday in a federal court in Manhattan, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried is scheduled to be released on a bond of $250 million. He will also be placed under house arrest in the Palo Alto home which he shares with his parents Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, prominent Stanford University Law professors.

One of the key witnesses on the ongoing FTX investigation could evade all the seven counts of allegations against her with a plea deal. Former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison would be prosecuted only for criminal tax violations and can be released immediately by paying the $250,000 bail. 

Investigations into other securities law violations and into other entities and persons relating to the alleged misconduct are ongoing.

Former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison and FTX co-founder Gary Wang have plead guilty to criminal charges, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams announced.

According to Bloomberg, the former FTX CEO’s stay in Bahamian prison has been relatively luxurious. The report indicates that, contrary to the crypto community’s speculation, Bankman-Fried’s life in Fox Hill “has been about as good as it gets.”

Bankrupt firm Alameda Research,  the trading arm of the FTX exchange, has been receiving persistent transfers from Panama-based cryptocurrency derivatives exchange Deribit since December 10.
