Avalanche Cortina 15 has been released, adding support for Experimental PebbleDB and more
Patrick O'Grady, the engineering director of Ava Labs, posted on the X platform that Avalanche Cortina 15 has been released. This version (V1.10.15) is backwards compatible with V1.10.0. It is optional, but recommended to use.
- Key features of the release: Experimental PebbleDB support, BaseTx support based on P-Chain, and MerkleDB memory optimization.
- Compatibility check: Virtual machine interface (V30); "database.Manager" has been removed in Cortina 15. The corresponding support in the virtual machine interface has also been removed. If the user is running a custom virtual machine, it must be updated to V30 to be compatible with AvalancheGo V1.10.15.
Cosmos Ecological Foundation ICF: IBC will soon be expanded to Avalanche
Interchain Foundation (ICF) of the Cosmos ecosystem fund announced on X that the cross-chain communication protocol IBC will soon be extended to Avalanche. The Landslide Network team is currently developing an IBC light client on Avalanche, enabling seamless interoperability between Avalanche, Cosmos Hub, and over 100 other blockchains that support IBC.

Avalanche: The current version of Snowtrace will be replaced by a new version running on Avalanche
On October 30th, Avalanche announced on the X platform that the current version of Avalanche blockchain explorer Snowtrace on Etherscan is being phased out and replaced by a new version run by Avascan. Avalanche Cortina 14 released, validator set management redesigned for greater efficiency
On October 27th, Patrick O'Grady, the engineering supervisor of Ava Labs, announced that Avalanche Cortina 14 has been released. The upgrade includes adding TransferSubnetOwnershipTx (inactive) and support for rotating non-elastic subnet control keys. This major execution change may be included in the next Avalanche network upgrade (V1.11.0). Additionally, the upgrade includes a redesign of validator set management for improved efficiency and the addition of PebbleDB implementation.
