October 25, 2024 – Plan ₿, an initiative founded in collaboration with Tether and the City of Lugano to promote the use of Bitcoin and blockchain technology, today hosted blockchain industry leaders, government officials, and Bitcoin enthusiasts to unveil a life-sized statue of Satoshi Nakamoto at the 3rd Annual Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano. In front of Lugano’s Villa Ciani, the presentation of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue marked a significant moment in honoring the vision and legacy of the anonymous creator of Bitcoin.

The newly revealed statue captures the essence of Satoshi Nakamoto’s mystery and innovation. Designed to play with perception, the statue gradually disappears from view as the observer changes their perspective, symbolizing Satoshi’s retreat from the public eye after laying the foundation of a revolutionary financial system.

The installation is a powerful reminder that while Satoshi’s identity remains unknown, the principles of decentralization and financial sovereignty continue to thrive.

“Lugano is rapidly becoming a leading hub for digital innovation, and this statue honors Satoshi Nakamoto but also embodies the forward-thinking spirit that drives our city,” said Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano. “We are proud to host the Plan ₿ Forum and to support the growth of blockchain technology and digital assets, and we are thrilled to now be home to this statue honoring the creator of Bitcoin.”

“The statue of Satoshi Nakamoto stands as a testament to the revolutionary impact of Bitcoin and the idea of decentralization. Satoshi’s decision to step away and let the community lead showcases the true essence of decentralization,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. “This artwork serves as a reminder of the enduring influence of Satoshi’s vision, inspiring us to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and financial freedom. It’s an honor to unveil this tribute to a visionary who reshaped the world of finance and empowered millions globally.”

The unveiling of the Satoshi Nakamoto statue was a key highlight of the 3rd Annual Plan ₿ Forum, an event dedicated to fostering dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Held in Lugano, a city that has become a growing hub for digital assets and blockchain projects, the Plan ₿ Forum brought together thought leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to explore the future of decentralized finance and digital assets.

The statue was created by Valentina Picozzi, who was inspired by the idea of capturing both the mystery and the enduring legacy of Satoshi Nakamoto.
