MetaArena, Invested by Sei Foundation: Sparking a New Round of Blockchain Gaming Revolution

MetaArena is a comprehensive Web3 gaming development and publishing platform, integrating the most advanced technical architecture, including Unreal Engine 5.3, a decentralized virtual asset trading market, and support for distributed computing resources. The platform not only provides developers with efficient development tools but also greatly simplifies the game development process through cross-chain functionality and AI modules.

The main goal of MetaArena is to create an ecosystem that integrates building, publishing, and monetizing for global game developers, players, and content creators. Through this platform, developers can easily create cross-chain games and manage in-game virtual assets and NFTs, while players can freely trade virtual items, achieving true asset self-management.

Currently, the MetaArena engine has launched its first AAA-level MMORPG game, Final Glory. As the industry's first AAA-level blockchain game developed with significant investment, it has attracted over 100,000 players in less than two months on the market and has become the new generation of phenomenon-level blockchain games. Based on leading technical solutions, MetaArena is promoting the blockchain gaming track to leap from Web2.5 to Web3.

At present, as an important infrastructure for the chain-based gaming track, MetaArena has received investment from the Sei Foundation and has become an important partner in the development of the Sei ecosystem.

Blockchain games boast the Web3 label while retaining the gameplay of traditional games and introducing token economy elements such as cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and P2E features, which tokenize game content and give players control over asset ownership. However, the vast majority of blockchain infrastructures do not possess the conditions to support the operation of game logic. Assuming that a game generates one on-chain transaction per player per second (for operations such as status updates for movement, skill releases, etc.), and with 10,000 active players participating, the chain infrastructure would need to reach at least 10,000 TPS to ensure smooth gameplay for players; otherwise, it would lead to extreme lag and exorbitantly high Gas fees. Most existing chains cannot meet this requirement.

Therefore, to ensure a quality gaming experience, especially for some real-time online games, their logic is typically run on off-chain servers (storage, computation, etc., all occur off-chain), thereby bringing a smooth experience akin to Web2 games. However, the on-chain and off-chain data of the game need to be continuously synchronized to ensure consistency between player states. For example, when a player purchases a sword in the game, the off-chain database needs to synchronize this on-chain transaction data in real time to increase the number of weapons in the player's backpack and make it available when needed. However, this Web2.5 approach brings the problem of centralized servers, including censorship, single points of failure due to hacker attacks, and scalability issues. The continuous workload of data synchronization is immense and may lead to data breaches and cheating due to data hijacking and malfeasance, especially when economic interests are at stake.

Amid limited support from existing technology and infrastructure, lengthy development cycles, and uncertain market returns, blockchain games struggle to implement complex game logic and high-quality content. The Web3 gaming sector still faces the dilemma of user attrition and a lack of new users, remaining in a trough. Therefore, to truly break free from Web2.5 and leap to Web3, fundamentally changing the existing game operation logic is crucial, and the game engine framework built by MetaArena may be a viable solution.

MetaArena: Redefining the Innovative Engine of Web3 Gaming

The development of on-chain applications already has a very high barrier to entry, rooted in the niche nature of development languages. In the Github 2023 development language rankings, blockchain popular development languages such as Solidity, Cairo, and Move are so unpopular that they don't even make it to the first two pages of the rankings. Especially since games themselves require the compilation of complex game logic and deployment to the chain, further increasing the difficulty for developers to develop and deploy on-chain games.

The MetaArena engine integrates AI modules, visual coding tools, and a series of decentralized smart contract templates, supporting developers in modular development and deployment of games and game logic, significantly reducing the technical barriers to Web3 game development. Whether Web2 or Web3 developers, there is no need to deeply master complex blockchain technology to easily engage in game development, effectively reducing technical obstacles and allowing more developers to easily enter the Web3 field.

  • CollabSphere Marketplace

The MetaArena engine also supports collaborative work among different developers by launching the CollabSphere marketplace. For game projects that are not yet completed or those that have been completed but still require further refinement, CollabSphere allows multiple developers to simultaneously engage in real-time collaborative development on the same project. By sharing resources, code repositories, and development tools, developers can work efficiently within a virtual workspace, which is particularly important for large-scale game development projects. The CollabSphere collaboration system transparently records each developer's contributions through blockchain smart contracts and automatically allocates rewards based on the complexity of different tasks. This system provides developers with a transparent and fair collaborative environment, ensuring that all contributions are rewarded accordingly. Through this decentralized collaboration mechanism, developers can collaborate seamlessly on a global scale, enhancing project development efficiency and significantly improving game quality.

To further enhance the visual effects of games, the MetaArena engine utilizes a high-efficiency 3D rendering engine, similar to Unreal Engine and Unity, with powerful graphics processing capabilities. Developers can achieve cinematic visual effects through this engine while ensuring smooth game operation and low latency.

With the series of development kits based on the MetaArena engine, developers can easily create various types of games, including open-world games, first-person shooter games (FPS), role-playing games (RPG), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) games, and match the content and graphics quality with Web2 games.

  • Resource Layer Arena Protocol

To address the issue of insufficient on-chain computing power and scarce resources that struggle to support game operations, traditional Web3 games typically rely on centralized servers and deploy game logic off-chain.

MetaArena introduces a further solution with the Resource Layer Arena Protocol, whose distributed resource-sharing mechanism allows users to contribute their idle computing power and storage resources. Games can tap into this layer and offload the resource demands required for operation onto the CollabSphere layer through technologies like ZK. This ensures that even AAA-level large-scale games can maintain operational efficiency.

Arena Protocol, as a distributed resource marketplace, incentivizes users to participate in resource contribution through token rewards, further enhancing the elasticity and fairness of the MetaArena engine and ensuring efficient game operation. Moreover, Arena Protocol provides cross-chain bridges that allow users and developers to seamlessly transfer assets across multiple chains. While managing decentralized virtual assets, the cross-chain bridges enable the free flow of virtual assets. This not only increases the platform's flexibility and applicability but also strengthens the rights confirmation and management functions of virtual assets.

  • GameFun Marketplace, the asset circulation hub

Another challenge for Web3 gaming is the lack of liquidity of virtual assets (such as NFTs and tokens), low market transparency, and high transaction costs, which pose significant challenges for both players and developers. Players often struggle to trade virtual assets freely and are susceptible to market volatility.

MetaArena addresses this by launching the GameFun Marketplace, providing a secure, free, and decentralized trading environment for game developers and players. This market supports multi-chain virtual asset management and trading, significantly enhancing the liquidity and market transparency of virtual assets. Players can freely transfer assets across multiple blockchains, easily managing in-game virtual items and NFTs. Even players and developers can create, manage, and trade their assets on multiple blockchain networks, forming a unified virtual economic system. The platform ensures that all transaction processes are based on blockchain technology, secure, transparent, and intermediary-free, thereby reducing transaction costs.

Overall, MetaArena builds a player- and developer-centric Web3 gaming ecosystem through its innovative gaming engine technology, decentralized architecture, and strong community support. The platform is not limited to game development; it also offers a wide range of application scenarios for virtual reality, education, decentralized applications (dApps), and more. By continuously innovating and improving, MetaArena is committed to promoting the application and popularization of blockchain technology in the virtual world, becoming a pivotal force in future Web3 gaming.
